Privacy in life in general is becoming more of a front-page topic these days, and privacy on the Internet in particular is especially relevant. Below are links to documents which discuss privacy in terms of directory services, and also documents that discuss privacy on the Internet in general.

RFC1943 is a good starting point for research about directory privacy -- check out its list of references. Also look at section 3.0 on legal issues.
