• Example Business Rules Implementation: SLOG
• SLOG clients utilize any Sybase Open Server client impl they choose (e.g. C, SybPerl, etc)
  • Thus SLOG's client interface is a Remote Procedure Call abstraction
• Using Open Server was simply a pragmatic choice for us; could use something else -- e.g. LDAP itself
• We modeled directory objects using modified Relational Data Modeling techniques; used Silverrun as data modeling tool
• Directory objects are created or modified within SLOG according to the business rules in combination with the input data,then the result is instantiated in the directory via LDAP
